Fed: Lynette Waugh released from hospital after brain surgery
SYDNEY, Aug 13 AAP - The wife of former Australian cricket captain Steve Waugh has
been released from hospital and is recovering at home after undergoing life saving brain
surgery.
In a short statement, Waugh said his wife, Lynette, was making "wonderful progress"
after being released from the Prince of Wales Private Hospital in Sydney.
The mother of three was rushed to hospital nine days ago for an operation to remove
a blood clot caused by a brain haemorrhage.
"We are so happy to release this positive news," he said.
"The last week has certainly been a time of deep emotion and reflection for me.
"You look at your life and it brings all your values into focus. You are simply and
instantly willing to give back any and all achievements to change the circumstances."
Waugh said he and his wife had benefited from the support from their families, close
friends and the public.
"We are indebted to Dr Charlie Teo, and all the staff at the Prince of Wales Private
Hospital for their compassion and professionalism. Thank you," he wrote.
Dr Teo indicated last week that Mrs Waugh, 40, could need years of ongoing tests.
Based on a series of tests since her operation, doctors believe Mrs Waugh, 40, suffered
a spontaneous cerebral haemorrhage.
